E5. Compound Semiconductor Materials

Compound semiconductors are important materials for a wide field of optoelectronic and electronic applications, including wireless electronic devices, optical data storage, illumination (display), and photovolatics. For example, LEDs based on GaN and its alloys exhibit green, blue and UV high brightness emission levels which are ready to serve many indoor and outdoor applications. Electronic devices based on wide bandgap compound semiconductors (SiC, III-nitrides or II-oxides) are using the superior electrical properties for high power, high frequency and high temperature applications. However, all fields of applications are strongly relied on promising material properties. The objectives of this symposium are to assemble researchers in academia and industry to discuss processing technologies, photonic and electronic devices of compound semiconductors.

Scope of Symposium

  • Bulk and epitaxial growth of compound semiconductors, including wafer bonding
  • Defects and characterization of material properties
  • Optical characterization
  • Device processing and technology and its correlation to material science, technology and materials properties
  • High power, high frequency and high temperature applications
  • Processes for wide bandgap technology
  • Photonics and photovoltaics

Abstracts should be submitted electronically through website of IUMRS-ICA 2011, and questions and inquiries should be sent to the symposium organizers.
