Compound semiconductors are important materials for a wide field of optoelectronic and electronic applications, including wireless electronic devices, optical data storage, illumination (display), and photovolatics. For example, LEDs based on GaN and its alloys exhibit green, blue and UV high brightness emission levels which are ready to serve many indoor and outdoor applications. Electronic devices based on wide bandgap compound semiconductors (SiC, III-nitrides or II-oxides) are using the superior electrical properties for high power, high frequency and high temperature applications. However, all fields of applications are strongly relied on promising material properties. The objectives of this symposium are to assemble researchers in academia and industry to discuss processing technologies, photonic and electronic devices of compound semiconductors.
