Symposium B1. Bio-medical Materials (Materials Science in Regenerative Medicine)

Biomaterial systems, from synthetic to biological, offer a critical starting point for tissue regeneration. Scaffold designs that optimize tissue formation and function in vitro and in vivo are the key points. Biomaterial systems that promote improved tissue structure and function or chemically modulate selective biological interactions are also a focus. In this section, novel material synthesis and scaffold fabrication technologies, new modes to process biomaterials or to chemically decorate systems, biological interactions between cells and biomaterials will be addressed.

Symposium Topics:

1.Biomaterials Fabrication and Synthesis
2.Biomaterial Surface Modifications, Characterization, and Functionalization
3.Micro/Nano Patterned Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery
4.Stem Cells in Biomaterial Applications
5.Leading Research and New Technology in the field of Biomaterials Science
6.Clinical Researches and Applications
7.Potential Challenges in Engineering and Biologic Perspectives

Abstracts should be submitted electronically through website of IUMRS-ICA 2011, and questions and inquiries should be sent to the symposium organizers.
